Good alerts save buildings. How do you set attention, alarm and intervention thresholds?
Monitoring only has value if the data leads to timely action. That is why every monitoring plan uses a layered system of thresholds, often in three levels.
Three levels
- Attention value: first signal, the evolution is followed more closely.
- Alarm value: those responsible are notified and the cause is investigated.
- Intervention value: works are halted and measures are taken.
How to set them?
Thresholds are derived from the stability calculation, the type of structure and the allowable deformation. A threshold that is too strict causes false alarms; one too loose comes too late. The surveyor-expert aligns them with the structural engineer.
Automation
On our platform you link each threshold to automatic notifications by email or SMS. This way the right information reaches the right person immediately, 24 hours a day.
